When we retract an article, it remains available to the public, but is marked as retracted. We need to update the PDF to also indicate such.
Update attached "retracted.PSD"
Flatten and save as Photoshop PDF.
Open in Acrobat.
Select PitStop Inspector tool. In the PitStop inspector window, under Fill and Stroke, change the Alpha Fill to 75%.
Copy the attributes using PitStop's PitStop Edit -> Copy and Paste Attributes tool (eyedropper with square).
Edit (or create and edit) a PitStop action (PotStop Process -> Action Lists). If there is a "retraction stamp" action, use that. Otherwise, use the Penguin action.
Edit the action to use the stamp you just copied by going to attributes and "grab selection". Rotate 30 degrees.
Open original article PDF, remove xPDF stamps, and execute action.
Save. Send original article PDF to HighWire for replacement on specified date retraction will appear online. Because retractions are generally for older articles, we need to do this ourselves. Please coordinate with Erinn.
PMC handles retraction differently – they remove the PDF and stamp the HTML. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2064817/
